Clark's General
Store and Eatery
The great Home Cooking family restaurant... Food worth waiting for!!!!!!!!!!!
We hope you like our service, our products and the restored features of our general store. Some of the features of the original general store are...the old red and white store counter, hand crank cash register ( known as the till), hand crank coffee grinder, weigh scale and show cases.
Yes, you are right! The interior walls & ceilings are pressed metals panels. They are called "Copper-bearing panels" and are typical of many early day general stores. The ceilings was had painted by W.O. Clark and his son in the early 1950's. The stained glass windows ( on the upper side walls) and the wooded floor were recycled from the Clark home during the restoration of this building.
The refurbished lunch counter and attached chrome stools (1940's) came from the old Lakeview Hotel (1925) wich was closed in the late (1970's) and destroyed by fire in 1993. Your eyes will find " The Bluenose" in the framed calendar picture above the soda fountain, which was a favorite Canadian icon of W.O. Clark and it decorated his home. On the same wall you will see a painting of the old Frank Hall cabin, which was located on the shoreline of today's Provincial Park. It was painted by Bill Winchester, a manager of the Hudson's Bay Store in the early days of Cold Lake.
